Swimming Pools Costa del Sol

Blog
Swimming Pools are in great demand as Spain bakes in a heatwave. I must admit that I am your typical Brit when it comes to moaning about the weather. This heatwave we are riding at the moment has done nothing to ease my angst. Normally, where I live in Andalucia, we never get temperatures of 40ºC until the first two weeks in August and the last two weeks of July at the earliest. This year though, things are most certainly different. In the mountains above Malaga, the Sierra Sierra Gordas, June would bring us a beautiful 23ºC most years, the mountains helping to keep us cool and the air is dry and pleasant. The coast is different, there can be a difference of 10 to 15º most times of the…

Design and Build - Builders Costa del Sol Have you ever heard the expression that "builders are ten a penny"? Maybe you have or perhaps not. In this modern era where Europe is a wide open market for everything, including builders, then yes, you may say there are a lot of builders about. Does that mean they are good builders? do they all have the same high levels of qualifications or, as is the case sometimes, are they "builders" purely for convenience. Builders Costa del Sol Without wanting to be a scaremonger, it is very easy on the Costa del Sol to find a builder to take on your project and a lot will do so very cheaply. If you are new to the area the likelihood is that you…

Interior design is an important technique that is given a high attention all over the world nowadays." The importance of Residential Interior Design…

Blog
Building Services Marbella Costa del Sol - Renovations and New Builds There is a much held misconception about building regulations in Spain; They do actually have them. Many people move to Spain from all over the world, they see the Spanish lifestyle as laid back, easy going and everything is simply "mañana!" I'm happy to inform you that this is not the case, there are exceptions, of course there are but in general you will find Spanish building regulations are as strict as anywhere else. Its not actually the regulations that are the bugbear but the paperwork and red tape that goes with them. The Spanish have an obsession with paperwork and stamps of authority. Often, you will also find that the rules and regulations governing the building and renovation…

Design by Nature

Blog
The Nature of Design and Build It doesn't matter what faith system you adhere to, or indeed, if you adhere to none, one thing is clear, mother nature is the greatest designer and builder of them all. Everything that walks, crawls, flies or swims has been designed for that specific purpose, and every detail has been tried and tested over the millennium to prove the design works perfectly. People have opinions of what is beautiful, what isn't, what looks right and what looks awful. We have all heard the expression "red and green should not be seen!" but in the natural world, red and green are perfectly matched. Just take a look at the fields around Marbella when the poppies bloom in the wheat fields, they turn a fantastic red…

Holy Week Marbella

Blog
Holy Week in Marbella Holy Week or "Semana Santa" in Marbella, as with the rest of Spain and other Spanish / Catholic countries is a grand occasion, one might say it is the grand occasion of the calendar year. More important and and bar far much grander, more majestic and most certainly held in great dignity, holy week  is a fantastic spectacle for anyone to see. What is Holy Week about? The simplest explanation I found to aptly describe Holy Week / Semana Santa or even Easter week comes from our old friends at Wikipedia; Holy Week in Spain is the annual tribute of the Passion of Jesus Christ celebrated by Catholic religious brotherhoods and fraternities that perform penance processions on the streets of almost every Spanish city and town during the last week of Lent, the week immediately before Easter. Marbella…
